  1. A composer creates original music. An arranger takes that composition and reworks it. For example, if it's for solo piano, he might create parts for several instruments, add a vocal line, even play with the time signature and key signature.

    Some composers create different arrangements of their own works - like take something designed for full orchestra and arrange it later for solo instruments or voice.
