  1. A consultant is someone who isn't a member of the company for which he advises. They are paid to advise on a specific issue for the company, usually on contract, and leave the company once their job has been completed.

An adviser can be employed by the company or not (a consultant is a specific type of adviser).

A specialist is someone who is an expert in his/her field (and they can also be employed by the company or just hired to do a specific job).

It's possible that a person can be all three things at once (if the person is a consultant, he/she is also a type of adviser, and if he/she is also an expert on the specific problem, he's all three things).

    Hope that helps!
