Question:

What is the difference between a cyclone and a hurricane?? both are started in the water but....?

i dont get it?? the dictionary says its the same thing but why dont we call it cyclone katrina. and the cyclone thas in the news in malamar isnt a hurricane??

Hurricanes, Cyclones and Typhoons are all the same type of tropical system.  They only have different names depending on where they are located.  By convention, they are called hurricanes if they are in the Atlantic basin or the eastern Pacific Ocean.  They are called typhoons over the western Pacific, while over the Indian Ocean they are called Cyclones.
