  1. Just the name.  


  2. A debit card is used and the money is debited to your account within a few days (usually)

    A check card is used to guarantee the payment of check that you issue. The card ill usually guarantee a check uo to a maximum limit say $50 or $100 or $150.

    Check cards are becoming outdated and not widely accepted as debit card is far cheaper,quicker and easier all round.

    They both take money directly from your checking account when you use the card.

    Now, a prepaid debit card won't be associated with your bank account.  But you didn't ask about secured cards...
