  1. formula:

An arithmetic expression that solves a problem. For example, (fahrenheit-32)*5/9 is the formula for converting Fahrenheit to Celsius

    equation:

A statement asserting the equality of two expressions, usually written as a linear array of symbols that are separated into left and right sides and joined by an equal sign.

A formula has to have "variables"  an equation only needs an equals sign.

  2. A Formula is a guide or process by which you can use to solve a certain problem,

while a Equations is an example of problems to be solve or it can be also a answered one and a Representation..

  3. formula: a set form for indicating procedure to be followed

equation: a proposition that asserts the equality of two quantities

    "equa" or "="

  4. A formula is a certain set of numbers with brackets, symbols like π, +, -, etc., which is used to solve a given problem. The basic concept is that the formula should be applied in a problem for solving it like is Surface Areas and Volumes of Geometric Shapes. You can't change formulas, for any reason, as they're like facts that remain unchanged. For example,

    Quadratic Formula is: [-b ± √(b² - 4ac)] / 2a.

Volume of a sphere: (4/3) πr³, etc.

Whereas equations are values with/without variables that are placed on either sides of the 'equal to' sign. The both set of values are thus equal. For example:

    2 + 0 = 2, (x - 1) = (3x - 3 - 2x + 2), etc.

    Hope that helped......
