What is the difference between a forum and a message board? And does Yahoo support forums?

I'm a member of a Yahoo group that recently changed to the forum format. Another group I'm in would work well in that format, as well, but doesn't think that Yahoo supports forums. I just assumed it did, but can't seem to find an answer to such a basic question. Also, I don't know what a message board looks like.

  3. The main difference between a forum and a message board is that a forum provides the ability to establish categories and start continuous threads along a particular topic (s).   While a message board creates a chat room like environments where instant messaging can be performed between two or more members of the board.
