What is the difference between a harmonic minor or a melodic minor (scales)?

  1. Hey YY.  Well, let me see if I can expain this.

    I guess you know what a minor scale is?  In the Minor harmonic...  same as the minor, except you raise the 7th note going up the scale and repeat that raised note coming back down.   In the Minor melodic,.... same as the minor, except you raise the 6th and 7th notes going up... but upon descending... you simply just play the minor scale as is.   Try it...   Hope that helps.
