  1. A hotel is generally much bigger and has more than one story.  Most motels are right along the highway and are only one story in height.

  2. Hotels are more upscale, and generally have better quality. Thus, people staying in them usually stay more than one day.

Motels are cheaper, and not always bad. If you're looking for a quick place to sleep when on-the-road, a Motel is your best bet.

  3. The word "motel" is a combination of motor and hotel.  Motel rooms typically have direct access to the parking lot.

  4. Motels allow you to rent out a room(s) to live in if you would like. Hotels do not allow you to do this.

Also, it has nothing to do with how nice it is or what kind of people go there.

  5. Motels is where you take hood rats, hotels is where you take high class ho's.
