  1. Hurricane is a subset of cyclones. There are 6 different types of cyclones. Hurricane is just one type of a cyclone.


  2. Its another name for a hurricane. A hurricane, typhoon, and cyclone are the same storms just different names.

    -In the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific Oceans are called hurricanes.

    -In the Western Pacific they are called typhoons

    -In the Indian Ocean they are called cyclones

  3. Hurricanes, Cyclones, and Typhoons are all the same thing, they're named differently for where they occur.  See the definitions from the NOAA website below.

    Cyclone:

    An atmospheric closed circulation rotating counter-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.

    Hurricane / Typhoon:

    A tropical cyclone in which the maximum sustained surface wind (using the U.S. 1-minute average) is 64 kt (74 mph or 119 km/hr) or more. The term hurricane is used for Northern Hemisphere tropical cyclones east of the International Dateline to the Greenwich Meridian. The term typhoon is used for Pacific tropical cyclones north of the Equator west of the International Dateline.
