An express train is a passenger train class 1, i.e.  with the highest priority. It is timed at the highest speed and therefore has right of way over other trains.

Mail trains carry the post but are classed as passenger trains and often timed at express passenger speed, with the same priority as express passenger trains.

the obvious difference is the price . Price for the Express is higher nearly 2 times than price for Mail! Check your money before you board!!

The mail train will have an RMS (Railway Mail Service) coach attached to it to carry the mail bags.  These coaches will be in red colour and marked as RMS. Now a days there is no exclusive coach for mail.  Thus there are only express trains now.
