I'm going to purchase a punching bag from d**k's Sporting Goods and I have seen that the boxing bags are alot more expensive than the mixed martial arts bags

They are both heavy bags and both look quite similar but I need to know the difference because i am only going to use it for boxing...Thanks (:

  1. a nixed martial arts bag is usually a free standing bad on the ground and a boxing punching bag usually hangs from the ceiling.

    thats it i think.

    :]

so it might be worthwile to go for the hanging one if you're only going to use it for boxing!

  2. just like rat 6969 says the only difference is the length, the weight and quality is down to specifications and brands, a martial arts bag is just as good for boxing as a boxing bag is and i do prefer the free standing bags to the bracket or ceiling Hung bags, as you can circle them off the jabs like your keeping the centre of the ring rather than just left to right so get the one that's best value for money

  3. mixed martial arts punching bags are usually longer so you can do some low kicks. How expensive a bag depends on the materials and the brands. Otherwise, just get one with a weight that suits you, so when you punch it, the bag will gives. You don't want one that is so heavy that it make you feel like punching a brick wall, hence risk injuries.
