What is the difference between a muffin and a cupcake with no frosting?

I mean aren't they the same thing? Or... the cupcake is CAKE. What is muffin?

  1. Muffins, I believe,would be a closer relative to bread than cake.  It has a denser batter where as the cupcake should be light and fluffy.  


  2. a cupcake is more of a cake like product, while a muffin can have fruit in it and is usually eaten for breakfast, and is more fibrous than a cupcake.
