  1. i think blue ray is like high definition

  2. A normal production dvd is a stamped disc that uses red (500-650nm) laser to register pits and lands in the plastic substrate.  DVD's are data in the form of protected Mpeg-2 video with DTS or AC3 audio for surround sound.  Blu-Rays are much in the same was as regular DVDs but rather then being read by a red laser they are red by a Blue-ish laser in the 405-450nm range.  The advantage is of coarse the amount of data that can be stored by using a laser that can be focused to a smaller dot can read smaller pits and lands.  Blu-Ray video is done in Mpeg-2 just like DVD but the higher resolution (HD) requires the extra storage Blu-Ray affords, audio on the other hand ranges from AC3 to Lossless surround sound appropriately dubbed TrueHD audio.

The obvious downside to Blu-Ray is the same for DVD, because the format is easy to control the MPAA prefers Mpeg-2 which is far from efficient and what Blu-Ray can do in terms of HD has been capable in digital formats for years with much smaller amounts of data.

  3. Blu-Ray is written with much smaller bits, so can hold much more information -- but it requires a Blu-Ray drive to read it.

  4. blue ray is wayy better quality.

  5. blue ray is high definition (and for Xbox), and has better color and quality (and sound) on the television. a DVD is well, just a normal DVD!!

  6. the difference is that normal dvds are less clearer than blue ray. u cant play blue ray on ur normal dvd player. u have to buy it. that cost like $200 i would stick with the dvds

  7. Blu-ray Disc (not blue-ray) (also known as Blu-ray or BD) is an optical disc storage media format. Its main uses are high-definition video and data storage. The disc has the same dimensions as a standard DVD or CD.

The name Blu-ray Disc is derived from the blue laser (violet coloured) used to read and write this type of disc. Because of its shorter wavelength (405 nm), substantially more data can be stored on a Blu-ray Disc than on the DVD format, which uses a red (650 nm) laser. A dual layer Blu-ray Disc can store 50 GB, almost six times the capacity of a dual layer DVD.

  8. DVD is the new old school.Blue ray is high def viewed on high def tv and high def player. It expensive.

  9. normal dvd is lower quality than blu-ray and a normal dvd will take up about 4gb of the disc when blu ray uses 50gb

  10. Blue ray has better quality and better volume quality

  11. HIGH QUALITY!

they make dvds seem like c**p.

  12. blue ray is high definition.

  13. Blue-Ray offers a much clearer, real-life picture.

  14. blu-ray is in hd

  15. Blu-ray discs are high definition versions of the movies. They have a lot more resolution than the standard DVD version. You'll need a special blu-ray dvd player and an HDTV to watch it. You cannot play the blu-ray dvd in a standard dvd player.

  16. Blue ray is for Tv's that are big and have hdmi ports. The quality of Blue ray disks are much better and cost more.
