  1. a macaw is a whole lot bigger. that's all i know.

  2. A macaw is a type of parrot. Parrots belong to the order Psittaciformes, which is divided into two families. These include lorikeets, cockatoos, kakapos, keas, parakeets and others. There are several species of macaw including the green-winged macaw, scarlet macaw, hyacinth macaw and Spix's macaw.

  3. a parrot means the species of hook bill birds. there are a number of different parrots suck as budgies, macaws, cockatoos, amazon parrots, eclectus parrots, meyers parrots, brwon headed parrots and many more. macaw is a certain kind of parrot. you can reconise them by their size and colour and ability to speak and learn like a 3 year old child. many of the bigger parrots such as the african grey or the macaw can be taught tricks and learn to mimick words. african greys can have the vocabulary of a 3 year old.

so the difference is.. well for example.. all dogs are dogs. (like all birds are birds) but theyre can be different kinds. like huskys and poodles. so just saying dog doesnt really describe the animal. it just describes what it is. so just saying parrot, you are saying hooked bill bird basicly. but saying macaw is like saying husky becasue that is the specific species.

    (best answer please?)
