  1. post modern society is  is for all the fields of the society while post industrial  is just for industries  of society only.

  2. lets put it this way...postmodernism may be used as an umbrella term for the way of looking at social living in a post-industrial society. it could also be said that the system of production and consumption in a post-modern society is post-industrial.

post-modern thinking influences the development of post-industrial kind of production.

what the post-industrial system produces -- gives rise to the post-modern way of thinking.the two concepts are complementary .

postmodern society and postindustrial society are related in the same way as the society that developed after industrial revolution and the "positivist society" are related.so be careful NOT to think that the system of production in a post-modern society is necessarily post-industrial...or that a postindustrial society necessarily follows postmodern way of thinking.both are separately generated concepts that can be linked based on our understandings of them.

this is as far as my knowledge on these concepts go...but some sociologists believe that society has moved from post-industrialist to postmodernist. to check out this view, visit this link http://209.85.175.104/search?q=cache:UID...

    hope this helped.

  3. mm..postmodern is like after the modern (obvious, yeah!) but post-industrial refers more to after industrialisation..like after the world was introduced to the modern technologies. modern would relate to modernism...i dont know im a little shaky of the whole 'modern' thing meself
