What is the difference between a proof and reprint?

proofs are a dollar and reprint is 4. she said the proof have a white border but other than that what is the difference? just trying to make a wedding album. proof doesn't have the word proof written on it does it?

  1. I believe that, originally, proofs were meant to be a lower quality prints back in the day of Film.  Now, it might refer to files that have not been edited or straight out of the camera.

    On my site I upload the pictures as 'proofs' and from there you get to order the ones taht you like in color, sephia, B/W, collage, posters, etc, etc


  2. A proof is a test print made for the purpose of evaluating the photographs quality ( density, contrast, color balance, composition, etc ). A reprint is a copy of a finished work. Many photographers watermark their proofs. So it may or may not have writing on it
