  1. on a computer or car or power or what i d k ?

  2. Warm: A shutdown initiated by either the user or the operating system itself. Typical action: The user, in Windows, clicks on Start > Shutdown and waits for the computer to close all applications and shutdown autonomously.

Cold: Electrical power is completely removed from the system, or the power button on the machine is held down for a long enough duration to force the computer to turn off.

  3. I think you may find this relates to computer systems - either a normal desk top computer or a larger multi-functional system computer.....

a WARM shutdown relates to the fact the system has been in use, and applications are shut down one at a time before the system is shut down completely....

a COLD shutdown means the system is shutdown straightaway, no startup or initial use....the system is COLD......
