I was reassured that it isn't a sports physical, i.e. no turn and cough. But then what is the point of this "well" physical?

  1. Most wellness physicals offer a selection of tests, ranging from a height and weight check, to analysing your urine for diabetes and kidney infections. Other tests include checking your:

    cholesterol levels and blood pressure,

    hearing and vision,

    muscle strength and joint flexibility,

lung functions - if you are a heavy smoker an X-ray might be carried out,

heart - checking for any abnormalities using an electrocardiogram (ECG),

blood - to check for prostate disease. This is usually only offered if you have a family history of prostate disease or are over the age of 45.

Your GP may also ask you a series of questions to gain further insight into your current health and medical history.

Lifestyle assessment - looking at aspects of your daily life, such as your diet, how much alcohol you drink, what exercise you do, and whether you smoke?

Medical history - information regarding your parents and other family member's health, to help indicate any possible future health issues

  2. I never heard of a "well" physical, but if it isn't a sports physical, it's most likely the basics. They check your height, weight, nose, ears, eyes, mouth, spine, back, and anything else that is on your chart. With athletes, they check out different things that are important for athletes whereas a regular physical it's your overall health and making sure you don't have any illnesses. It's sort of the same thing but most "well" physicals are given to anyone.

  3. well physical is for overall wellness. a sports physical, they draw blood and observe your body to see if your insurance company will cover you, should you go out for a sport....its almost self explanitory
