What is the difference between a ruling from a family court and ruling from a criminal court?

I was wondering how does it add when it comes to having a future record from either one? I know that both may send a person to jail...

  1. Family Court

    Issus including the family, divorce, custody,child support issues.. this is not a criminal matter, unless someone has not paid child support, a judge can lock a person up

    Criminal Court

    All criminal matters, charges, criminals in jail, all indictable crimes


  2. Family court as the name indicates is concerned about family problems like custody or support of children.  On the other hand, a criminal court is about the trial of offenses committed by persons punishable by Penal laws.

  3. Family Court - Deals with civil, family issues just like the other people said and can only the judges can only lock people up in jail under very extreme circumstances such as contempt of court or failing to pay child support.

    Criminal Court - All cases brought before these courts are subject to jail, prison or monetary remedies.
