  1. slow pitch-very heavy and long

    fast pitch-light and shorter

im also pretty sure slow pitch bats are thicker

  2. Slow pitch bats will be heavier and have larger sweet spots than fast pitch bats.  A heavier slow pitch bat versus a lighter slow pitch bat does not always equate to hitting the ball further.  Its all in your bat speed generated through the ball.  A heavier bat might actually slow down more in speed after you have made contact with the softball as oppossed to a lighter bat.  You might actually have more bat speed through the ball with a lighter bat and therefore be generating a hit that travels further or rockets of your bat quicker.  If you know anyone with different slow pitch bats, different weights, etc.. try them all out and see what works best for you.

  3. It takes more power to hit the ball in slow pitch than it does in fast pitch, b/c in fastpitch the speed of the ball provides power, where as in slow pitch it's your body that provides the power, so slow pitch bats are heavier to help make the ball go further. It is a lot harder to hit in slow pitch w/ a fast pitch bat, so i would definitely recommend getting a slow pitch bat if you are going to be playing in a league regularly. If not, just go w/ what you can afford.

  4. A lot of the bat you choose will simply be on your preference.  I played fast pitch for years and the past few seasons have played slow pitch.  My swing style still emulates a fast pitch style but I need a heavier bat to slow down my swing a little bit.

Be very careful when you are purchasing a bat to use for slow pitch because a lot of leagues strongly regulate the bats that are legal.  Before you invest in a decent bat, make sure your bat is approved by your league.  The league should be able to provide you with a list of approved and/or prohibited bats.

  5. Ones fatser than the other.

  6. there isn't really a difference other than weight.  you want a heavier bat for slow pitch and lighter one for fast pitch...  but if you find one that is the right lenght and weight for you, get it.
