  1. A trotter has a diagonal gait, while a pacer is side to side or parrallel gaited. As a 20 year professional, it's really hard for me to explain. That's about it really.

    What he is trying to say is a trotter will move forward the left front and right rear legs together, then the right front and left rear.

    A pacer moves forward left front and rear, then right front and rear.

    I hope this makes sense.

  4. It involves which legs move together and since I can never remember which gait is which, see page 2 of the document on the link.  Trotting races are also slightly slower than pacing races.
