  1. one is a nightmare and the other is just a simple dream.

  2. i vision seems to result in strictly a picture or a scene of something, possibly resulting from the side effects of another substance that can cause this reaction. the meaning of the image is obscured by ignorance of any of the given circumstances so interpretation can often be misleading. a premonition can be similar, but it also has the conotation that there is some sort of feeling or instinctive gut reaction to what you're seeing, either good or bad.

  3. Not a bad question.

I really do believe that the distinction between these two terms is very slight. However, a "vision" pretty much implies that you SEE something.  It might be something in the present (at a remote location) or the future (at a remote time).  As for premonitions, their main issue seems to be a connection with some future event--regardless of location.  If you "see" something as part of a premonition, that might certainly qualify as a "vision".  So, the terms probably can't be treated as genuinely exclusive, or separate in meaning.

I had premonitions (now and then) when I was in my teens and for a while into my early 20s, and these often involved seeing something.  Maybe these were visions?  They were always very, very bad experiences, so I'm glad that they've ceased.  They always dealt with something bad happening to someone -- usually within about a week of the premonition.  Sadly, they always panned out.  Could that be a distinction between them?  One shows something that DOES happen, while the other shows only a possible happening?

I may have thing about this some more.

    Thanks for asking this question!

  4. The main difference is in regards to the timeline.

For example a Vision can be something that happened in the past, is currently happening, or is going to happen.

However a Premonition always occurs BEFORE the event happens.

    I hope that helps. :)

  5. A premonition does not have to be visual.  It can be auditory, a feeling, etc.

A vision does not have to be a foretelling of the future.

  6. My understanding is a vision is more coherent, concrete, specific than a premonition, but the words could be used interchangeably.
