  1. The difference is the gateway( wireless modem router) is worth the extra money by eliminating extra cables and also easier to configure a network with.

  3. With the wireless router you still need to have a modem to access the internet.

    With the wireless modem-router you don't need a separate modem (it's already combined with your router) and this is actually called a "gateway modem".

  4. A "wireless router" can connect your LAN to another network.  However, that other network has to already have an Ethernet connection.

    A "wireless modem router" also includes the hardware necessary to connect to your cable/DSL/whatever Internet provider.

  5. ok well a modem connect the PC to the internet WMR will connect to internet and also have wireless

    Wireless router has to plug into the modem via ethernet so you cud have 2 boxes but u can get one to do all the work
