  1. An EU national has the right to enter the UK and to take social security from us, we from the Uk have the right to go anywhere in the EU but are unlikely to have any reciprocal arrangement about social security. Why do you think they are all coming here.

  2. EU is more general it's to say that someone belongs to a country within the European Union whereas a UK national (Which is also an EU national) is more specific.

  3. UK nationals are EU nationals, but the status means that a British national in trouble abroad has the ability to turn to any of the 27 Member States embassies for protection when suffering problems.

For example, if you were travelling in a country where the UK had no diplomatic representation - you could turn to the French, or German,or Polish Embassies, if they had one, who would protect you on behalf of the UK.

  4. Citizens of EU countries are subject to the laws of their individual countries unless superseded by EU law.  The 3 and a half countries w/in the UK likewise but still have border controls and their own currency.

  5. All UK nationals are EU nationals but not vice versa.

  6. "National" is belonging to a nation.

The EU is not a nation, so you cannot be an EU national.

Anybody using this expression is plain wrong or (if they have an EU agenda) wishful thinking.
