  1. Well, from my experience, the invoice is pretty much the bill laid out and itemized, if there are multiple items or even if there is just one item.

    The receipt shows that you've paid for it.


  2. The invoice is the detailed cost of supplies or services. The receipt shows you have paid the amount due. many companies now combine the two, so that an invoice becomes a receipt upon payment.
