  1. Basically, it's the amount of precipitation generated by the storm. An LP supercell (Low Precipitation), is fairly common in more arid to semi-arid climates, such as the high plains of the U.S. east of the Rocky Mountains.  Further east, the available moisture typically becomes greater, thus you see more HP (High Precipitation) supercells.  Note that a super cell storm is simply a storm that has a rotating updraft.
