Well, Zunes are cheaper, and some 30 Gig zunes are worth the same as 8 gig Ipods. Ipods have slightly better gaming and video capabilities (The zune is improving on those, however). Zune uses microsoft points when buying music, which is sometimes confusing. I honestly would rather go with Zune because, well, it's cheaper. I don't want gimmicky games and videos. I just need my music.

PS: If you plan on buying either of these, Zune's have this thing where for 14/15 bucks a month, you can get as much music as you want. So, there's somewhat of a cheaper thing there too.
