What is the difference between an open range zoo and a regular zoo?

An open range zoo is where animals are allowed to roam freely and live normally as in nature.  The checks and balances of nature are applied.  A regular zoo, depending where you are at could entail caged animals or animals moving in a controlled area (fenced or penned) consistent with their natural environment.
