What is the difference between being fashionable and being modern.?

I would say, being fashionable is being gifted, being able to match your attires and look smart no matter how the clothes may seem unappealing. And modern, may mean, following the trend, set by fashionable people.

Like what a fashionable person would feel will be taken up by the public is what a modern unfashionable person will refer to as modern/latest.

a person can be fashionable.........but may not be modern!!

modernity reflects in thoughts, attitude, habits.....and certainly not confined in outfits only!!

being modern  refers to a person having broad and logical outlook in every sphere of life whereas being fashionable is just an aspect of modernization.

wearing latest and trendy clothes or bringing or following the changing trend doesn't mean modern ........it is the approach i.e;mental attitude that matters in being modern.

Fashionable deals only with what you wear, dress, makeup etc.

Being modern is the mindset and adapting to newer lifestyles, technologies, manner etc.
