  1. Passion usually prompts a creative expression where as obsession prompts actions to control, contain and possess.

  2. Being passionate about something means you believe in it and can validate and argue your point logically.

Being obsessed means everyone and everything else be damned. There really is no logic in obsession, it consumes you.

  3. Passion is an intense desire or enthusiasm for something--a strong and barely controllable emotion.  It could also be an intense sexual love.

Obsessed on the other hand, means being continually and intrusively preoccupied by something to the point of inner conflict.

  4. the person whom such actions are directed towards will determine if you are passionate or obsessed by whether or not such actions are welcomed.

  5. I think that obsession implies an unhealthy preoccupation but passionate doesn't carry that connotation.

  6. Passionate means you are deeply in love with someone/something.

Obsessed means you are consumed  by someone/something

For example, if you are passionate about dieting, you lose a certain amount of weight.  If you are obsessed, you are anorexsic?
