One keeps on wondering if cartoons and animations are the same, but they are dinstict because of the tools used in creation and the cost/effort involved in the processes to produce a quality final output.

Animations physical features are closer to reality than cartoons and concentrate mostly on life issues and has more violent and sexual themes.

Cartoons usually have features that are not relative to reality and it is now associated with caricatures for humor and satire which makes people laugh.
