  1. Classical mechanics = study of physics on an observable scale (planets, stars, galaxies, etc)

Quantum mechanics = study of physics on a subatomic level

    (atoms, sub-atomic particles, etc)

"Classical mechanics is used for describing the motion of macroscopic objects, from projectiles to parts of machinery, as well as astronomical objects, such as spacecraft, planets, stars, and galaxies."

"Quantum mechanics is the study of mechanical systems whose dimensions are close to the atomic scale, such as molecules, atoms, electrons, protons and other subatomic particles."

  2. classical mechanics are covered fairly completely by newtons laws and derivations from them.

quantum mechanics gets down into the strong and weak forces. elementary particles do show some classical behavior.
