  1. Classical mechanics assumes energy levels are continuous. Quantum mechanics assumes energy levels are discrete and not continuous.  It may help to think of classical mechanics as analog and quantum mechanics as digital.

    Classical thermodynamics and quantum thermodynamics are essentially the application of continuous vs discrete functions to properties of heat, volume and pressure of systems.
