  1. I think clear would refer to liquids and colorless for gases??

    My first thought...


  2. Color is ambiguous since we typically would NOT say that something white or black or grey is without color (colorless). Neutral Hue or "no discernable hue" would be more accurate

    Clear means transparent.  Beers law insures that transparency (and for that matter color/hue) is an extensive property.  However, it is often treated as if it is intensive.

    "Water white" is often used to describe a clear colorless solution or liquid.

    Obviously, color depends on viewing conditions and illumination characteristics.

  3. If something is clear, you can see through it. It can have a color and still be clear enough to see through.   If it is colorless, it is without color and, by it's nature, it is also clear.
