  1. Computer science is generally the study of "programming."  As where computer engineering is more like the study of how to build computers or computing devices.


  2. Steve is right but computer engineering would be more hardware base. Think making a better processor. Where Software engineering would be making software. Software engineering is closely related to computer science. To be good at either you need to know the other.

  3. I always though that computer science was the study of theory/maths which lies BEHIND how computers work. Does tend towards hardware, and the THEORETICAL study of how software languages/operating systems etc are put together.

    And that computer engineering was more about APPLYING the findings (of computer science) to solving problems. So it does still study hardware/software, but more in terms of how it's used to solve problems.

    Computer science is probably where the greatest innovation/invention lies (Artificial intelligence, better data compression, encryption etc)

    but as computer engineering is where those innovations actually make it to market,it tends to be the best paid.

    (If you find a new way for computers do something, and others find they have to use your idea, you just might be able to generate huge amounts of money via royalties..)
