What is the difference between condo, townhouse and co-op?

  1. not much. Condo is a unit in a complex that you purchase as a home. It has shared common grounds along with an association that keeps them up. A town home can be as small as a duplex that you own 1 side and is so deeded. Now a co-op is a little different as you buy stock in the building that allows you to live in a unit
