  1. an Embassy represents a country located in another country,

is the direct link between the two countries, diplomatic relations between the 2 countries,

it serves the purpose for consulars services, under its jurisdiction,

a consulate, helps its citizen with paper work, birth certificate, marriage, deaths and personal matter,

it is has the role to give visa for people who would want to visit that country.

it is about it........ in a nut shell.

  2. You've gotten some good answers, but let me give you mine.

An embassy is where the Ambassador is located. This is the main diplomatic site of the country involved.  Some countries have secondary offices called consulates in other locations.

The ambassador is the main diplomat in a country. Australia has many diplomatic persons in the USA, but only one ambassador. In the other locations, the main diplomat will likely be the Consul General, though whether his main function is consular (as contrasted with economic or political) is unimportant, as he's the main diplomat there.

All personnel associated with a consulate or embassy are diplomats, that's their status within the country to which they're accredited. Internally, they can have different missions- political, military, communications, etc- so their funtional titles may be different, but they all have diplomatic status.

    Hope this helps.

  3. An embassy is generally the office of a country's diplomatic representatives in the capital city of another country (also known as a High Commission if it is a diplomatic mission between Commonwealth countries).  The top representative is generally the ambassador.

A consulate is generally a sub-office of the embassy, outside of the capital city. The top representative is generally the consulate general.

Both locations generally have a Consular Section as part of their organizational structure.  The Consular Section generally deals with visas and citizen services.

  4. Consular deal with passports, visas and usually people mean consulate when they say embassy. Embassies are for serious diplomatic relations between states and for signing treaties and really important things. Get you visa from the Australian Consulate !

    Welcome to OZ !
