  1. a cruise ship is just a cruise ship and cruise liners are more ships from more than one cruise lines


  2. They are both the same.  Cruise ships were originally referred to as cruise liners because they would run between two ports, such as between NYC and Southampton, England. They sailed a line between the two ports.  In that time ships were used as transportation to get between two points.  Today, ships such as the QE2 and QM2 are still doing this on the transatlantic runs but most ships are for pleasure and stop in many ports.

  3. Cruise liners is an older name when cruising the oceans began to be popular. both terms have the same idea--pt-a to pt-b. The popularity of this type of transportation has morphed into a billion buck business cruise ship corporations now have many popular destinations to travel. a cruise ship in every port.
