  1. I would say the difference is ethnocentrism vs, cultural relativism. Ethnocentrism is judging another's culture by the values of your own, with an attitude that your own culture is superior. This could be called "culturally insensitive" when it manifests itself through ignorant statements like, "why do Indian women wear those weird dots on their forehead?"

    Cultural relativism is the exact opposite of ethnocentrism. It is recognizing and respecting the fact that every culture has its own unique values, norms, beliefs, etc. This sounds more like cultural sensitivity, in that you are looking objectively at another culture from the point of view of its own people.
