What is the difference between cumulus and nimbus clouds?

"Nimbus" is not a cloud formation but a suffix you attach to a cloud formation name to signify rain.  For instance, a Cumulus Cloud is fluffy, a Cumulonimbus cloud is a fluffy cloud that is raining. Nimbus signifies rain; you can stick it on the end of any cloud name.
