Well, I'm applying for colleges, or more like looking for information for colleges. and I found myself at the site of the University of Advancing Technology. When I was at the third step, I found game design and game programming. Can't tell the difference. Help.

  1. Game Design is the process of thinking through and planning an idea for a game and Game Programming is actually coding it. My link lists the jobs in a game company (and links to the whole article which tells you about them).

  2. Game Designing is the process that includes many steps, like

    >Plot Layout

    >Character design

    >Environment design

    >Sounds

    >3D Modeling

    >Animation

    >Programming

    .

    .

hence game programming is only a part of the whole design process.

Also game design can refer to the process of outlining it all.

  3. Game Design: developing the idea and basic layout of the game, or can be even more detailed including graphics and sound. Much more artistic.

Game Programming: writing the code that makes the game operate like it's supposed to.

I respect your decision with UAT (I looked into it as well) but I suggest looking into DeVry, if you haven't already. I'm taking the GSP course right now and it's not half bad.
