Genetic selection is when a species naturally, over time, weeds out the weak traits that inhibit certain vital actions, such as temperature tolerance, so that the whole species will eventually become stronger.

Genetic engineering is when an outside source, usually humans, have the animals breed to weed out the less desirable traits.
