  1. to grill is to cook something on the grill

to barbeque is to cook something on the grill using a bbq sauce or rub

  2. A grill is more like a very hot and very heavy pan with grooves in the bottom where the grease goes to. (like the George foreman grill), and a BBQ is mor like cooking on a rack thats over hot coals or an open flame.

Don't you think this is a great answer? I do!  lol

  3. Grilling uses direct heat and bbq uses indirect heat.

  4. outdoor grilling meat or vegetables places it directly over relatively high heat, usually from coals or wood chips if you want authentic flavor

barbecue uses an indirect heat and relies on smoke to flavor the meat as well, usually takes several hours

people do use the terms interchangeably especially where I live, I think because they both involve cooking outdoors

  5. If you are talking about the act of grilling and barbecuing and not the equipment used in both then, the difference is the temperatures and time the food is cooked.

Grilling is high direct heat for a short time.

BBQing is low indirect heat cooking for several hours.

Smoking is smilar to bbqing.  It uses wood in the charcoal to flavor the meat.  Technically there are other differences between barbecuing and smoking, but that is the basic difference.

You grill good tender cuts of meat.  Tenderloins, steaks, hamburgers, chicken b*****s, etc

You smoke/barbecue cheaper tougher cuts of meat.  Such as briskets, pork shoulders for pulled pork, and ribs.

  6. bbq involves bbq sauce on what ur cooking

grill - hambugers, hot dogs, brats, corn on cob, steak, ka bobs, shrmp, etc

  7. They are the same, some call the act of cooking outdoors grilling and some call it barbequeing.

Here is a great site about all things bbq
