Just a curious question because someone told me that hard contacts are bad for your eyes. Never heard of it though.

  1. Some are hard and some are soft...

Bout as much as I know...

  2. Hard contacts need some getting used to, but they last really long (about 1-2 years) and are actually better for the eyes because they don't completely stick to the eyeball, like soft lenses (we're talking brands like Acuve here). Once you get used to them, hard lenses are much more comfortable but if you lose one it's expensive to replace. Also, some people like the "freshness" factor of disposable soft lenses (i.e. putting on a new pair every time).

  3. I know I had to originally wear hard contacts when I was 8 years old  because I had extreme nearsightedness and supposedly hard contacts help slow down vision changes.  I could not wear them longer than 6 months however.  They were horrible.  So painful!  When a piece of dust would fly in there it felt as if someone stabbed u in the eye.  I remember crying and begging my mother not to make me put those in.

I never got used to them and switched to soft contacts right after those hard contacts.  It was such a difference, couldn't even feel them!  I never hear of anyone wearing hard lenses.

Here's something I found which is kinda interesting
