  1. Homeostasis is maintaining a constant internal environment. (think body temperature or blood sugar levels)

Metabolism is the actual burning of fuel to release energy in cells.

  2. Homeostasis is the ability of ones body to keep a constant internal environment which is different from the external environment.

Metabolism is the sum total of all the reactions going on in ones body. It involves breaking down (catabolism) or building up (anabolism).

  3. Metabolism is the sum of all chemical reactions in an organism or cell. Homeostasis is the act and condition in which an organism or cell maintains its inner conditions (temperature, pH, etc.) within an acceptable range. You can think of it also as metabolism allows for homeostasis.
