  1. Both are entirely different in meaning.

Insecurity is that feeling you have in your mind when my Sister is with you.

And Mistrust is that which when my cousin Pranoy is with you

  2. My opinion, they are both very similar in meaning. But, being insecure with yourself makes you not trust people. It's hard to get your feelings hurt. Mistrust, is usually when someone has lied to you in the past and now everything that comes out of their mouths, you don't believe.

I think I am the Queen of being insecure and mistrusting everyone. I have never had anyone in my life prove me different. Hope this is not your case. Good luck.

  3. Insecurity is usually used to refer to how you feel about yourself.  You may have grown up without gaining enough self esteem.  This leaves you feeling insecure about yourself.

Mistrust is when you don't trust someone else or their motives.
