The difference is the American taliban has a firm grip on wide layers of the power of the American state machine so they don't have to resort to some of the more primitive tactics their Muslim counterparts use . They don't chop of people's heads because they can give their extremists view on crime and punishment a civilized face through lethal injections and a phony court system which is little more than window drressing. While there are differences on details and intensity between jihadis and the American far right the attitude and cult mentality is clearly the same and both are a threat to our enlightened way of life.

The Republican platform is the most extreme we've ever seen -- opposing stem cell research, denying a woman's right to choose no matter what the circumstance, and continuing to spend $10 billion a month in Iraq.

Actually, andy f, the Islamic religion believes in God like Christianity. "Allah" is just Arabic for god. so that narrows it down to just "Nothing."
