  1. Kathak is a style of classical Indian dance, while the term 'GHARANA' means the school of Indian classical music. Style or tradition of schooling developed in a particular area under a particular "Guru" is known as GHARANA, such as Maihar gharana of pandit Alauddin khan, etc. Kathak dance belongs to Lucknow gharana.
