What is the difference between let and rent?

I am looking to move and am currently renting but have no clue what lettting is all about

The answer is, very little.

It is usual that "to rent" means that you pay money to move into a place.

And the place you move into has usually been "let", or rented out, by the owner.

If you own a property you let it to a person who wants to rent it.

when a sign says 'To Let' it means the property is available to rent. a letting agency is an agency that rents properties out. it means the same thing
