What is the difference between men's and women's volleyball?

Game styles.

Womens game is more about finding the hole and running a lot of plays at the same time avoiding the block.  

The Mens game is run through the Opposite.  (opposite being the big tall goofy left hand guy who can kill the ball any time)

Well apart from men are men and woman are woman. mens rallys go very quicky while the womans tend to last ages.

The style of the games, and the net is higher up.  Sometimes it seems more intense for guys, because they are very agressive.  But I know, from experience, that girls are just as good, and just as agressive.

In the game itself (assuming you have two teams at similar skill levels):

Guys are going to be more agressive with more hitting and more kills and probably less defense.  The game will be moving faster simply because guys tend to think "kill, kill, kill" more than "defense."  Also, guys are more likely to run quick sets to the outside and move the middle around.  Girls tend to play better defense.  I have seen guys teams that play great defensively and weak offensively and vice versa for girls, but if there is a generality, that is it.  Some like watching guys volleyball more for the power and speed, some like watching girls for the defense and the longer rallies.  I like watching guys volleyball more (but then again, I play it).

Other things:

Girls tend to have really annoying repetitive cheers, whereas guys just do high fives after good plays.

The obvious:

The difference is that guys play men's volleyball and girls play women's volleyball.

Men are bigger faster stronger better.  Not dissing women or womens volleyball but the fact is men are build different and so better at volleyball.  

Women aren't better at defense its just easier to play defense when the ball is going slower.  The rallies are longer cause its easier to pick up a spike that is going slower and not straight down at 100mph.  so defense is really important for most womens volleyball because there is more chance to pick up balls.

In mens volleyball hitting, blocking and service reception are more important since the ball is going to be harder to pick up after it is hit.  

This all makes for a quicker more exciting game in my opinion.  Not to say womens volleyball doesn't have its appeal.
